Dr. Johnny E. Brown Membership Award

        Dr. Johnny E. Brown has served as Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University since 1990. Prior to this appointment, he was Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Purdue University from 1979 to 1985, Visiting Associate Professor, Arizona State University in 1985, and Associate Professor of Mathematics from 1985-1990. Dr. Brown has a very long history with the Purdue University community. He is a member of the American Mathematical Society, Mathematical Association of America, National Association of Mathematicians, and Association of Women in Mathematics. Dr. Brown has a commitment to teaching, which has resulted in many prestigious honors.
        He has received many awards and accolades including Outstanding Teacher of Undergraduates-School of Science, Harold T. Armine Visionary Award, Charles B. Murphy Award, Purdue University Teaching Academy, Top Ten Outstanding Teacher of Undergraduates School of Science and Who 's Who Among America 's Teachers. 
        The Dr. Johnny E. Brown membership award is given to a Black Graduate Association member who shows a commitment to all BGA sponsored events and programs. Participation is key to any successful organization and without the steadfast involvement the Black Graduate Association would cease to exist. Therefore this award is a token of appreciation from the BGA to a member who has gone far and beyond the call of duty to ensure that the Black Graduate Association remains an active force on the Purdue University campus.
